English 1A has given me the first taste of college education at my first year at Las Positas College. It has been a wonderful learning experience and I was able to garner a lot of help and inciteful knowledge from Mrs. King and my fellow classmates. I learned multiple points about framing my essays, ensuring my They Say, I Say in my writing, and learning about the political bias in our media. Being in this class has made me realize the countless possibilities included in improving my reading and writing skills.
My reflection on College Life
After finishing my first semester in college, I have realized that time management is a critical skill that we all must maintain. Sure, it seems like we have a lot of time to do things. Having an essay due in a month typically has students putting it off until maybe less than a week before it's due. But with multiple classes that eventually pile up, students (including myself) must make due with the time given to us. Start a rough draft. Begin the study guide. Practice some math problems. Don't procrastinate. One will see that you don't have as much time as you think. Especially if you tack on sports and a job onto your workload.
My reflection on the Future
Well, procrastinating is definitely off the list on things to do. Now I will look towards taking more pre-requisites for my major, such as Economics 1/2 and Financial Accounting. The first semester is done, but there's a lot of work to be done. I also plan on utilizing the library more to finish up writing and researching. I tend to brush past the library, forgetting that there is a lot of help and resources in store. I want to search for internships as an accountant that will bring me closer to my future environment and grow my relationships in the business world. I know there is a lot in store for me and I'm excited about the future.
